Project Limits

I-95 from north of PGA Boulevard to the West Palm Beach/Martin County Line

Purpose

Improve capacity, roadway safety and efficiency.

Scope of Work

FDOT is milling and resurfacing I-95 through mainlines and shoulders along this section, a length of approximately nine miles. The work includes removing and replacing damaged guardrails, as well as bridge anchorage assemblies throughout the project at various locations. The construction will include, shoulder widening and concrete median concrete barrier. The project milling and resurfacing will also include mainline ramps, side streets and ramp terminals along Military Trail, Donald Ross Road and Indiantown Road. In addition, the work will include installation of two drainage structures along Donald Ross Road. Also, the construction will include signing and pavement marking as well at communication elements.

Construction Timeline

Begin Construction: March 2003
End Construction: December 2003

Maintenance of Traffic

Lane Closure on I-95 will only occur at night when traffic volumes are lighter. Three thru lanes will be maintained at all other times.
1) One lane closure will be allowed from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am.
2) Two lane closures will be allowed from 9:30 pm to 5:00 am.
3) No lane closures will be allowed from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Ramps at the Military Trail, Donald Ross Road and Indiantown Road interchanges will have temporary/partial one-lane closure while ramps are milled and resurfaced. Advance warning of the ramp work will be provided. At all times, one thru-lane at Military Trail, Donald Ross Road and Indiantown Road ramps shall remain open during the milling and resurfacing operation.

Construction Phasing

Phase I

Northbound and southbound I-95 outside lanes will be milled and resurfaced and traffic will be diverted to the inside lane, (one thru-lane each direction).

Phase II

Northbound and southbound I-95 middle lanes will be milled and resurfaced and traffic will remain diverted to the inside lane, (one thru-lane each direction).

Phase III

Northbound and southbound traffic will be diverted to the newly constructed outside lane while the inside lane is milled and resurfaced.

Factoids

Over 4,500,000 feet of milled asphalt and 112 million pounds of asphalt will be used to construct this project!
Over 380,000 linear feet of new striping will be placed along the project. That is over 1,055 football fields!
