The I-95 Mobility 2000 Project office completed
the first of its eight projects along the I-95 corridor. This project
approximately 9 miles in length, extended from PGA Boulevard north to
the Palm Beach / Martin County Line.
The purpose of the project was to replace roadway surfaces by milling
and resurfacing of I-95 through mainlines, shoulders, ramps, side streets
and ramp terminals along Military Trail, Donald Ross Road and Indiantown
Road. The work included removing and replacing damaged guardrails, as
well as bridge anchorage assemblies throughout the project. The construction
also included shoulder widening and concrete median barrier installation.
In addition, two drainage structures were placed along Donald Ross Road.
Also, signs, pavement markings and communication elements were upgraded.
Construction was expected to last 290 calendar days and cost $5,118,530.00.
Construction began on March 3, 2003 and concluded November 15, 2003 for
a total of 258 calendar days and a cost of $4,893,688.12.
Ranger Construction Industries, the contractor, obtained the incentive
set out in the contract for completing the project ahead of schedule.
The daily incentive amount was $5,000.00 per day, with a maximum payout
of $200,000.00. Ranger completed the work 32 days ahead of schedule, allowing
them to receive a $160,000.00 incentive.

During this project over 4,500,000 feet of milled asphalt
and 112 million pounds of asphalt were used.
More than 380,000 linear feet of new striping was placed -That's more
than the length of 1,055 football fields!
