PROJECT 7 COMPLETED

Construction Timeline
Begin Construction: August 2002
End Construction: December 2006

On December 21, 2006, the I-95 Mobility 2000 project office completed the fourth of eight (8) projects along the Palm Beach County I-95 corridor. This project stretched north of Blue Heron Boulevard to just south of PGA Boulevard, a length of approximately 2.6 miles.

The $68.7 million project, which began in August of 2002, widened I-95 from six (6) lanes to ten (10) lanes along this section. The work included replacing the existing bridges over Northlake Boulevard, Holly Drive and Burns Road, adding auxiliary lanes along portions of the mainline between interchanges, and modifications were made to the mainline, mainline ramps, side streets, and side street ramp terminals at Northlake Boulevard and PGA Boulevard. The project also included drainage improvements, sound barrier walls, retaining walls, signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, landscaping, and irrigation and communications elements.

PCL Civil Constructors was awarded the contract, and given an original contract time of 1500 calendar days for completion. Due to the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005, and in addition to other inclement weather, the project was extended by 98 days. However, the contractor completed the project within 1594 contract days.
